Bede the Venerable, on Mark 1:9
Bede the Venerable · c. A.D. 672–735
Mark 1:9 · Douay-Rheims
“And it came to pass, in those days, Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.”
On this verse:
“(ubi sup.) Well indeed in the shape of a dove did the Holy Ghost come down, for it is an animal of great simplicity, and far removed from the malice of gall, that in a figure He might shew us that He looks out for simple hearts, and deigns not to dwell in the minds of the wicked.”
