Ibn Ezra, on Isa 44:23
Ibn Ezra · 1089–1167
Isa 44:23 · Douay-Rheims
“Give praise, O ye heavens, for the Lord hath shewn mercy: shout with joy, ye ends of the earth: ye mountains, resound with praise, thou, O forest, and every tree therein: for the Lord hath redeemed Jacob, and Israel shall be glorified.”
On this verse:
“Sing, 0 ye heavens, etc. This is a figurative expression ; it means: great rejoicing will be through Israel, for through the redemption of Israel the glory of God will be revealed to the whole world.”
