What dost thou here, or as if thou wert somebody here? for thou hast hewed thee out a sepulchre here, thou hast hewed out a monument carefully in a high place, a dwelling for thyself in a rock.

U. P. " Over the house." lie was a confidential minister. St. Jerome thinks that be was high* priest, which others question. a The last clause is in two MSS., though not in the received reading. 5B P. " What hast thou here, and whom hast thou here!" It appears that he was at the time amidst the royal sepulchres, seeking to secure a burial-place for himself. The prophet reminds him that he has no claim to such an honor.
