Romans 6:14 Douay-Rheims

For sin shall not have dominion over you; for you are not under the law, but under grace.

Francis Patrick Kenrick

1796–1863 Catholic

The want of the article leads us to understand the text of law in general. Christians are not, indeed, free from the moral law, but they are not wholly under it, since grace affords a remedy for transgression. They are not bound by the ceremonial law, under which the power of sin was great, "for the spirit was not at hand to help, nor was baptism yet given to deaden the passions." St. Chry- sostom.
