John 1:1 · Douay-Rheims
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
On this verse:
“(Hom. in princ. Joan. c. 3) Yet has our outward word some similarity to the Divine Word. For our word declares the whole conception of the mind; since what we conceive in the mind we bring out in word. Indeed our heart is as it were the source, and the uttered word the stream which flows therefrom.”
