John 1:1 Douay-Rheims

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Origen

c. A.D. 184–253 Patristic

(Hom. ii. in Joan. c. 1) It is worth while noting, that, whereas the Word is said to come1 [be made] to some, as to Hosea, Isaiah, Jeremiah, with God it is not made, as though it were not with Him before. But, the Word having been always with Him, it is said, and the Word was with God: for from the beginning it was not separate from the Father.
