Sirach 44:17 Douay-Rheims

Noe was found perfect, just, and in the time of wrath he was made a reconciliation.

Glossa Ordinaria

Medieval

Noe was found, etc. When, the world perishing by the flood, he was preserved, that he might preach repentance to the nations, and show by his example that they who devoutly serve God are freed from eternal destruction. With him God established a covenant, that he would no more destroy all flesh with the waters of a flood. But he signifies the rulers, who amid the waves of the world govern the ark, that is the Church, and preach the baptism of repentance, appeasing God toward the human race by prayers and sacrifices.
