Glossa Ordinaria

For to the little one mercy is granted. To these, namely, who sinned through ignorance, or frailty, or necessity, and blotted it out by humble penance. But the mighty shall be mightily, etc., those, namely, who by despising the commandments of God committed grievous sins, and did not repent. For as they were the mightier in impiety, so shall they endure the stronger torments of gehenna. For what cause, etc., up to but to whom much, much also shall be required of him.
