Earthen. Literally, “Samian.” (Haydock) — Samos was famous for its pottery. (Pliny, [Natural History?] xxxv. 12.) Hebrew, “Clay, disputest thou against the potters of the earth?” He shews the folly of idols, after having proved his own divinity.
