That the manifold wisdom of God may be made known to the principalities and powers in heavenly places through the church,
Cosmas Indicopleustes
To the intent that now unto the principalities and the powers in the heavenly places might be made known through the Church the manifold wisdom of God. Clearly has he again signified that they are not only here, but he also says that they had been taught by those things which had been dispensed to man. For by using the expression through the Church, he evidently signified through men.
