St. Jerome observes: "It has reference to the person of our Lord, who was truly loved by the Father, and fulfilled all the will of the Father, and overthrew in Babylon, that is, in the confusion of this world, the whole race of Chaldeans, namely, the demons, who are understood by this designation."
