Psalm 26:8 Douay-Rheims

My heart hath said to thee: My face hath sought thee: thy face, O Lord, will I still seek.

Francis Patrick Kenrick

1796–1863 Catholic

H. "To Thee my heart said : Seek ye the face : Thy face, Lord, will I seek." P. "When thou saidst Seek ye my face : my heart said unto Thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek." Rosenmiiller thinks that the Septuagint had a ditTerent reading : " Face hath sought Thy face :" which, he says, is altogether to be preferred. The heart and conscience of the psalmist prompted him to seek God. St. Jerome agrees with the Vulgate.
