St. Jerome translates it: "verbum diaboli infundebant sibi : quidormivit non addet tit resurgat." Some take this verse to contain an imprecation : May an evil thing befall him. Others understand it of an actual malady, whose fatal issue they foretell. "A word of Belial has issued out regarding him, and he that lieth shall rise no more."
