Isaiah 22:6 Douay-Rheims

And Elam took the quiver, the chariot of the horseman, and the shield was taken down from the wall.

Francis Patrick Kenrick

1796–1863 Catholic

The meaning of V. is that the protectors of the city were compelled to abandon its defence. I'D was taken for " wall" by all the ancient interpreters. 51oderns take it to be the proper name of a people of Me- dia. or Assyria, or of a country near the river Kur, which flows into the Caspian Sea. L. has, " Kir nn- covereth the shield." The leathern case in which it was preserved was removed, preparatory to its use.
