“Wherein shall I cleanse thy heart, saith the Lord God: seeing thou dost all these the works of a shameless prostitute?”
On this verse:
“How degenerate Heb. אֲמֻלָה, spoiled. Similarly (Neh. 3:34): “the feeble (הָאֲמֵלָלִים) Jews,” and similarly (Ps. 6:3), “because I languish (אֻמְלַל).” your heart Heb. לִבַָּתֵךְ, like לִבֵּךּ. dominated Heb. שַּׁלָּטֶת, whose evil inclination dominates her.”
