Isaiah 1:12 Douay-Rheims

When you came to appear before me, who required these things at your hands, that you should walk in my courts?

Ibn Ezra

1089–1167 Jewish

לפני=פני Before me; it is not the object of לֵרָאוֹח ‘ to be seen.’ לראות פני, according to this opinion, rejected by I. E., When my face is seen; ‘my face’ is called object, though the nominative case. Comp. I. E. on Exod. 23:15. רמוס To tread. Infinitive.

Hebrew and Aramaic words are the commentator’s citations of the sacred text; the English translation that follows each is the translator’s.
