For Egypt shall help in vain, and to no purpose: therefore have I cried concerning this: It is pride only, sit still.

this to Egypt. They are haughty (רַהַב) of proud spirit. idlers (שָׁבֶת) A people who are idle and are proud for no reason. Alternatively, שָׁבֶת means that their pride and haughtiness is fit to be curtailed.
