In thee have our fathers hoped: they have hoped, and thou hast delivered them.

Our fathers trusted in Thee: They trusted: – for many times did our fathers trust in Thee, and Thou didst deliver them – from their trouble, and their confidence did not prove false. The repetition of trusted is (intended) to emphasise the (thought of) confidence, for they had confidence in none other but in Thee; and so
