G. P. "Israel is the Lord's portion." God chose Israel to he His people, to govern them by special laws, whilst He left the other nations to be ruled by their respective princes. He is said to have set these over them, because His providence regulates all things. Rom. xiii. 1 . A verse here follows in some Greek copies which is regarded by Grotius as borrowed from some passages of Scripture. Exod. iv. 22.
