Jeremiah 34
The law required the Israelites, who were bondmen, to be set free in the seventh year. Exod. 21 : 2. Dent. 15 : 12. This appears to have been neglected. In the present instance, the general maiftimission of Hebrew slaves was resolved on, without regard to the time of their servitude, at an act of generosity and piety.
