The apostles contrived to keep themselves concealed, awaiting the manifes- tation of the Divine will, and attending to the care of such of the faithful as remained at Jerusalem, whilst most of their brethren were scattered abroad. ' ^vnndfAia-sLv. V. curaverunt. It is put for all that appertains to the interment, as washing, embalming, &c.

The sense is : unclean spirits crying with a loud voice, went out of many who had been possessed by them.
