Saint Cyril of Jerusalem

Cyril was bishop of Jerusalem through the turbulent middle of the fourth century, repeatedly driven from his see by the Arians. His enduring monument is a set of twenty-four catechetical lectures, delivered to those preparing for baptism and to the newly baptized at the church of the Holy Sepulchre. Vivid and practical, they open a window found nowhere else onto how the early Church taught the faith and celebrated the sacraments of Christian initiation.
